Happy Easter

Happy Easter - may your day be filled with family and friends.

Friday's blog post talked about creating your own background.   Here is another sample of this technique that I made into an Easter card.

The sentiment is inside the card.   Look closely at the Damask oval.  It has piercing elements on it.   So easy to create the paper piercing look with these element dies.   I used the Journey Foam Squares between the Green Olive oval and the Damask oval.   That way it would add dimension but also allow light to peek through the piercing elements.    This is the first time I have used the foam squares.   I really like them.   They are easy to use, already separated on the sheet and are small enough to fit in tinier spaces. They are evenly spaced between each other, so when you pull one off a number of them don't come off at the same time.  We also have a 1/2" size.   The Journey Foam Squares are a crafter's must have time in my opinion.

A little bit about me.

One of my favorite photos of Hal and I

Thought it would be fun to share some information about me.

The photo above is one of my absolute favorites of my husband (Hal) and I.   We've been married over 29 years now.   He has always been extremely supportive when it comes to my crafting obsession.  AND many times he is the enabler encouraging me to try new products that I have been eyeing.

I have been involved with crafts in some form my whole life.  I have been making cards for as long as I remember.   Including in my crafting are:   crocheting, latch hooking, cake decorating, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, liquid embroidery, sewing, One Stroke Painting, calligraphy, card making, photography, computer graphics, and much more.

We live just outside of Phoenix Arizona.   Beautiful weather here too.   Now that I am a Fun Stampers Journey Coach, I'm only a short drive away from the corporate headquarters.   That means when our annual convention is held I can drive rather than fly!!!  More $ for convention goodies.  Won't be able to go to convention this year, but it is on my calendar for next year for sure.   Hoping that as my Fun Stampers Journey team builds that everyone will be able to go too.

I joined Fun Stampers Journey as a Coach just a few weeks ago.   I'm enjoying doing this blog as it gives me the opportunity to share ideas, create tutorials, create samples, and also answer questions about our products.

Many of you may know me from my other KreatesKards Blog or from my YouTubeChannel - KreatesKards.    My hope is to continue doing video tutorials.   Soon I will set up a section on my YouTube Channel that pertains to Fun Stampers Journey.  There is a complete section there of card making/crafting tutorials that would be useful no matter what brand product you are using.

Please note that all views expressed on this blog are my personal views.   They are in no way sponsored or endorsed by any company.

Thank you for joining in on my journey.

Limited Supplies? Create Your Own Background Paper

Since I am brand new with Fun Stampers Journey as a Coach, right now I have limited supplies.   This means I have to be a little bit more creative and think outside the box.

I cut my card stock into card front size pieces.   Then took the ink pads and pressed them/pounced them over the card stock.   No set pattern or pressure.   Added color in where I wanted more highlight of a color.

Once completed, then I then stamped my images from the Under the Sea stamp set, cut them out using my Journey Platinum Machine (Pg 177 of the main catalog), and colored them in using color pencils.

I am very pleased with the outcome of this project.   Here are samples of what I created.

The above is the before and after using the Blue Lagoon solid card stock for the background.  If you click on the photos, you can enlarge them to get a closer look.   The stamp pad pouncing definitely adds texture and dimension to the look.   I outlined this card front with a Whipped Cream base/border.   This card will have a Happy Birthday sentiment inside.

The samples above were done using the Oatmeal Cookie card stock and the Under the Sea stamp & die set bundle.   On this one I actually did the ink pad pouncing right on the card base itself.   I used only the front of the card, but could of also taken it over to the back side too.

When I first received my Fun Stampers Journey kit, I immediately had to try the ATS (Artist Trading Stamp) called Damask Print that was part of my kit.   I had stamped it with Black Licorice ink on Whipped Creamed oval shape that I had.    When I was trying this background technique, I came across my oval.   Decided to do the background technique on it too.  Pleased with the results.    Reminds me of an old fashion brooch.

This hasn't been put on a card yet.   But I can envision it with a larger oval background then placed on a card base.   Would be great for an Easter card too.

Card Stock I used:
Blue Lagoon  CS-0077
Oatmeal Cookie CS-0023
Whipped Cream CS-0040

Ink Pads I used:
Sweet Berry IP-0029
Pineapple Smoothie IP-0014
Green Olive IP-0072
Blue Lagoon IP-0002
Black Licorice IP-0041 (used for stamped images only for my project)

Stamp Set/Die Set:
Under the Sea Stamp Set of 8   SS-0085
Under the Sea Die Set of 8  DI-0110
Under the Sea Bundle (both of the sets together)  BD-0046
Damask Print AT-0081

Die Cutting Machine:
Journey Platinum Machine TO-0090

Fun Stampers Journey Coach Starter Kit

My Fun Stampers Journey Starter Kit arrived last week.  Oh my gosh, it was filled with so many wonderful products.   The company is redesigning it shoulder tote and rolling bag.  I did receive a shoulder bag, but once the new ones are ready in June I will received the new version as part of my kit.  My kit had business supplies, stamp sets, dies, card stock, Fusion Ink Pads, and more!!!

I was given three options of the starter kit.   Was nice to have a choice.  I chose the mid-priced one as I was saving my $ for the Journey Platinum Machine.

If you are interested in becoming part of my team, please contact me.

Really a nice variety of products in my kit.   Has been difficult to decide what to use first.

This is one of my favorite stamp that came in my kit.  It is called:
Happy Birthday    SS-0013    Set of 4

These are the first two cards I made using items in my starter kit.
