Vagabond Chips Add Depth and Dimension to this Card - Fun Stampers Journey Products

Yesterday I worked some more with the Lots of Dots Die Set.   This time I took thread and wove it in and out of the dots on the top and bottom rows    The dots piece is Lemon Drop Card Stock and the card base is Fresh Forest Card Stock. 

The Vagabond Chips were painted with FSJ Silks.   I also splattered the Silks over the card background.

Thinking of You sentiment is from the Inside & Out Stamp Set.

Happy Adventure Stamp Set Pairs Beautifully with Lots of Dots Die Set - Fun Stampers Journey Products

The Lots of Dots Die Set was used to created this dotted background which I accented with Journey Silver and Cranberry Bliss Silks.  The Happy Adventure Stamp Set was used to stamp the image of the car and the sentiment.   The truck and flowers were colored in with our Journey Burst Color Pencils.     Then finished it off with a triple bow made from Gingham Sweet Berry Ribbon.

Wouldn't this make a cute anniversary card!

Hero City Die - Follow Your Dreams Hot Air Balloons - Fun Stampers Journey Products

I have to be honest, I never wanted the Hero City UNTIL I saw the Follow Your Dream (hot air balloon embellishments).   When I saw them I could envision the card in my mind.   I had to have both items!!!!

The card went together easily.   I used retired printed paper that I had for the background, but you could easily used Splashes, PanPastels, Fusion Inks to create the background yourself. 

Card base is Lemon Drop.
City is Black Licorice.
Ink for Sentiment is Black Licorice.

I adhered the background to the card base with our Journey Craft Glue.   Then cut out the City Die and placed it on the background with the Craft Glue also.    The hot air balloon is already layered and has a large foam square on the back.   Also used the foam squares on the sentiment when I placed it on the card.

The inside of the card could be left black for a handwritten note or stamped inside too.

Retiform (Grid) Stamping Techique Used to Create This Card - Fun Stampers Journey Products

I learned a new stamping technique last week called Retiform or Grid Stamping.   Each card will be unique.   Fun and easy to do.  The next two days I will share samples of my cards with your.   If you google Retiform Stamping Technique you will find lots of ideas and videos.

Part of the grid lines are covered with the satin ribbon.  I used to the ribbon to highlight the lines.  

I have seen Retiform done all in one color, in similar colors (like above) and in distinctly different colors too.   There is no right or wrong way to create these.  Just have fun.

Sneak Peek: Mystic Romance Collection From Fun Stampers Journey

SNEAK PEEKS

Page 14 through page 23 of the NEW Fun Stampers Journey Inspiration Book & Catalog 2017 - 2018 showcase a brand new collection called Mystic Romance.   Catalog premieres July 1, 2017.

From the catalog:  "Bring a fashion element to your craft!  Inspired by the latest trends gracing the runway, this gorgeous collection will bring a touch of romance and a touch of intrigue to your paper creations."

At convention these creations were a major hit.  Once you see them too, you will understand why.  These are two cards I made this weekend using some of the stamp sets in the collection:

Made using the Embroidered Rose Stamp Set and the Embroidered Greetings Greetings.   The Embroidered Rose Stamp Set has a matching die set.  All the shading that you see on the rose, leaves, and sentiment is because of the stamp itself.  Each was stamped with a single color.

Did you notice the cute Pumpkin Patch Bows I used on both cards!   Aren't they adorable!  They are AC-0332 and come in package of 30 pieces.   These are in the Journey Holidays Catalog that will premiere August 1, 2017.  The Hello sentiment in the card above is from the Embroidered Greetings Stamp Set.

Technique/Tip:

The background on both cards was created by taking a indented paper plate (you could use a foil pan etc - just don't use anything that later would be used for food) and filling it with water.   Then add a few splatters of SILKS (colors of your choice).   They will temporarily float on the top of the water.   Have your Color Splash Sheets JM-0076 (watercolor paper) ready BEFORE you add in the silks.  Once you have added the silks to the water, quickly dip your Color Splash over the top of the water/silks.   Each sheet you do will have a completely different look.  I was able to get 2 cards from the one application.   The 2nd card was lighter and because I waited a few minutes, the silks had dropped to the bottom of the plate.   I submerged my Color Splash Sheet and ran it across the bottom to pick up the remaining color.   Just keep adding color to your water if you have a number of them to make.   With fresh SILKS color added, it will give you a much brighter/intense background as in the first card above.
