Beach Themed Card - TryFolds Stamp Set

During the month of April, Teaspoon of Fun, offered a good discount on any orders placed through them for Art Impressions products.  I ordered two of the TryFolds (card with 3 layers to it) stamp sets.    I couldn't wait to share them with you.   So today is the beach themed set, and tomorrow I will share the shoppe themed set.  Each set comes with 3 image stamps and 1 sentiment stamp.   They are coordinated to go together or can be used separately.   Directions are on the back of the packaging and easy to follow.  These are cling style rubber stamps.

Anniversary Cards

Life got a bit hectic this last week, so I am a little behind on posting here to my blog.   Even though I Haven't posted, I have been creating numerous styles of cards.    Today I will share the two anniversary cards I made.

Tonic Cardmaking Magazine (Tulips)
Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils
FSJ Yummy Dots Embossing Folder
FSJ Rainbow Drops

FSJ Heart Strip Die Set

I used the die cut hearts (the pieces that were cut out) as accents on the inside and back of both cards.   Felt it added an extra touch to both of them.

A Wizard Stamp Set - Penny Black Stamp Set

Penny Black has some of the most amazing red rubber stamps.  As I mentioned my wonderful husband gave me my birthday present early, so I am trying some of them out now.   Can't wait to share all the items with all of you.

I love the quality of these stamps.   It is red rubber and has the design on the cling side.  In my opinion, rubber stamps are the best.   No odor, easy to clean, and the best stamped images!!!

 Penny Black Stamp Set
A Wizard

I stamped out the design on white card stock.   The image was colored in with Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils, then was fussy cut out.   The cut out image was adhered to brushed silver card stock which I also fussy cut around to mimic the same outline as the stamped image.   The card base is a navy blue.   I did use FSJ  Gold Silk for the stars on the blanket and the spots on the card base.   The stars were hand painted with a brush to keep the FSJ Silk within the lines.

I'm definitely going to have to see if there are other stamp sets of wizards from Penny Black.   I see many "magical" cards in my future.

Three Cards I Made This Weekend

My challenge this weekend was to be creative with a product I had previously purchased and not used.   I did have a few items to choose from (smiling).   I came across these pencils the other day that I had purchased from FSJ ages ago.   I actually thought they were embellishments and was surprised to realize they were post-it notes.

Each pencil had its own stack of post-its, but after removing the top one of each color I discovered the glue/adhesive had also gotten on the ones beneath.   May have been because of the heat here, don't really know.   At least I got one cute card out of the set.    The sentiment was from a grab bag set of stickers I had purchased.   Thought it was perfect to go with the pencils.

FSJ Little House Stamp Set  AT-0298
Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils

Always fun to send a card to a friend who just moved into a new home.   This stamp was just what I needed for this card.

FSJ Cottage Bouquet SS-0606
FSJ Silk Flower (don't know the item number)

I took one of the flower stamps and randomly stamped it 3 times on the page.   Then colored in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.   The center of each flower has a bit of Journey Glaze on it to make it shine.   I accented it with the silk flower.

Whew ... I was busy this weekend.   Fun to try different mediums and ideas for cards.

Unicorn Watercolor Picture

OK,I admit it ... I think I am obsessed with the unicorn digital image from my Kit And Clowder class.   Today I decided I had to try it with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.   I am beyond pleased with the results.

The horn was done with a gold gel pen.   Then I took Silver Sparkle Silk and put it over the mane and the horn to add some sparkle and shine.

This one I believe I will frame and keep along with the color pencil one I did using the Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils.

Each one has its own unique look.

Hope you find time to do some creating today.

Unicorn Card

I've taken a few coloring classes on-line the last few months.   One of the classes (Kit And Clowder) was to to color in a unicorn or horse using their digital stamped image.   The mane was done in rainbow colors.   I actually finished the mane a few weeks ago and then set it aside.   Not sure why.

On Sunday morning, I just couldn't sleep so got up and started working on finishing my unicorn using my Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils.   I am pleased with the results.   The horn of the unicorn is actually gold/bronze with FSJ Sparkle Silk over the top.  It doesn't show up in the photo though.

Not sure if I will make this into a card or frame it as is.   Undecided at this point.   Almost all of my creations are given to others.   Not very often do I kept something I have made.

Finishing this image sparked additional motivation to create more so I spent many hours on Sunday creating other images/cards.   It was a fun and creative day.

More Marble Swirl Creations/Cards

I worked some more with the Marble Swirl Stamp set from Catherine Pooler.   There is still a lingering odor to it (it's photopolymer), but not as bad as when it was brand new.

Here's my two latest creations:

At Last - The Fairy is Completed - Kit And Clowder Class

Oh my gosh, I am so excited.   I finished coloring the fairy from the December class of Kit and Clowder.  Pleased with the results, but going to try a different type of coloring paper for my next project.   Alyce gives many suggestions on her website, I used a pencil paper I had here.    Just a reminder that Kit and Clowder has both classes for markers and pencils and offers conversion sheets for many of the brands.

The fairy is a digital stamp image from Connie Fong
I did the coloring myself.

Working With Silver and Gold Leaf Foils

I have never been a fan of the FSJ Silver and Gold Leaf Foils until recently.   I discovered that they can be applied easily to double sided adhesive tape.

Here are some samples .... I put double sided adhesive tape on the card front (base) and then applied a die cut (butterfly or tree).  One die cut was in position, I then placed then rubbed the leaf with my fingers to get it attached to the adhesive.   The final step was to take a sponge dauber and brush off the excess from the die cut.   Very pleased with the results.

The butterfly was done in gold leaf foil.    A dear friend gave me the Gnome stamp set as a surprise last month.   I thought the little house, sign, and frog were the perfect accents for this card.

The tree was done with silver leaf foil.

Happy New Year - Progress on my Fairy - Kit And Clowder On-line Class

Happy New Year!!!   May your new year be filled with many blessings.

I've been working on my on-line class with Kit And Clowder (they offer free ones too).   The December class is a fairy.   Here's my progress on her so far.   Almost done.   Truly enjoying the classes.

This is the first time I have worked with skin and hair coloring.   Very pleased too with how her eyes turned out.

Seems impossible that I am almost completed with this class.   Just have the crystals left.   I need to work more with the background blending, but I am happy with my first try here.

Learning to Use Color Pencils Using a Kit And Clowder On-lIne Class

I enjoy coloring with pencils, markers, crayons etc.   It is soothing and fun.   However, I have never taken any classes UNTIL NOW!   I wanted to learn more about blending, shading, and so much more.

First I want to share with you my class project so far, and then I will give you the link for the classes in case you want to sign up too.   Kit and Clowder has classes for both pencils and markers.   They have a conversion sheet so you can determine which color is needed for your project using the ones you have.   My pencils are Faber-Castell Polychromos brand, but there are many other options.

Kit and Clowder Website:   https://www.kitandclowder.com/
If you sign up, please say that I (Mary Director) referred you.   It will give me a $5 AUD refund to my PayPal Account which converts today to about $3.50 USD.
UPDATE:   12/23/2018   I just got my first referral.   Kit & Clowder refunded the $5 AUD not only to me but to the person who gave me as the referral!!!

Classes run about $15 USD a month with the digital image/digital stamp costing about $3 to $5 USD per month.    This month we also received a free class mid-month for being a member of class.    They have individual classes and monthly subscription.   The fairy above is the monthly subscription class.

There are also some free classes you can sign up for.   Don't miss out on those either.

There are written directions and videos for the monthly classes.   The videos are easy to understand and loaded with wonderful directions and tips.    I play mine through my iPad so that I can watch it in my craft area and pause/go back/replay if needed.

I highly recommend this website and the classes.

Images From Wonderful Day Stamp Set Colored with Zig Real Brush Pens

Although the Wonderful Day Stamp Set (FSJ) has retired, it is still one of my favorites to stamp and color in.   I used my Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils to do the coloring of these flowers.   I probably will fussy cut these out and use on a card.  Although, I do like them like this too ... maybe just add in a sentiment.

Coloring With Zig Real Brush Pens and Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils

This card uses both Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens (the deepest color flower) and Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils(other flowers & leaves).  It was interesting to watch the coloring of the flowers as they came to life.   The Zigs give a deep rich bold color in this instance.  I actually like the two coloring mediums together.   A nice contrast of colors and technique.

Dahlia Burst Stamp & Die Set and card stock are from Fun Stampers Journey.

This card could be used for any occasion.
