A Bouquet of Flowers Perfect for Any Occasion

I am keeping busy doing watercoloring with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.   I found a Daisies Stamp from Deep Red that worked perfect to create a card front.   This card would be perfect for any occasion:   Birthday, Mother's Day, Thinking of You, and so much more.

The images in the corners was stamped directly onto the card base.   The center grouping was stamped then fussy cut out.   I put FSJ Rainbow Drops in the center of each flower.   The center grouping is raised up using foam squares with thread positioned underneath.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day

My mom's favorite color was yellow and mine has always been lavender.   So for this Mothers Day Card, I decided to combine the two to create a beautiful flower bouquet.   Mothers Day requires a special card. 

Did you notice the background for this card?   I used The Lots of Dots Die Set with the Confectionary Prints Printed Paper (retiring).  Then I wove our Lavender Fusion Gingham Ribbon through most of the holes.   It really changed the look and also by leaving some of the holes untouched allowed the Lemon Drop card base to show through.   The leaves and stems are Lemon Grass and Fresh Forest Card Stock.   The flowers are Lemon Drop and Lavender Fusion Card Stock accented with Rainbow Drops.

"M" is for Mother - Mother's Day Card Using Alpha Bold Steel Rule Dies - Fun Stampers Journey

"M" is for Mother

Mother's Day Card 

I made this Mother's Day card using my Journey Platinum Machine.   The Alpha Bold Steel Rule Die is very large 8 1/2" x 11.5" so need the larger platform/work area that the Journey Platinum has.  This die will NOT fit in the Amaze Machine or any smaller die cutting machine.

The heart border is in the die set too.  Felt it was just perfect for this card.  

Flowers are made using our Summer Pretties Paper Punch Cartridge and Paper Punch Handle.   Accented the center of each with Sparkle Drops. 

Don't you just love the background on this card!.  I love creating my own backgrounds and was able to do this one using our new Dauber Dowel and Dauber Pad with Rich Coral Stamp Pad and Pineapple Smoothie Stamp Pad. 

Journey Twine Candy Apple and Sparkle Silk were the finishing touches to this card.   I splashed the Sparkle Silk on the background and also use it with a blending brush to cover the Rich Coral flower petals. 

So much fun creating this card.

Hip Hip AT Stamp and Die From Fun Stampers Journey

Always nice to have a stamp (or stamp set) that has a matching die(s).   The Hip Hip Artist Trading Stamp (ATS) is brand new this month along with its matching Hip Hip Die.

Pop Love Die Creates Pop Up Insert for Greeting Card

In the new 2016 - 2017 Fun Stampers Journey Inspiration Book & Catalog, be sure to look on Pg 252 for two new pop up dies.   One is a Christmas tree called Tree Pop DI-0213 and the one I will showcase here today that is called Pop Love DI-0212.

Die is 5" x 8" and cuts the perfect insert for the inside of an A2 card (5 1/2 x 4 1/2")

(NOTE:  The die actually looks this way. The photo is NOT backwards.)

The front of this card was shown yesterday (2 hearts on the front).   Here's the inside using the Pop Love Die.

The red piece of card stock (the card insert) is what the die cut.   The "I heart U" is cut also with the die and includes scoring lines for easy folding.  Do the folds first, then attach the insert to your card base.  It will fold flat.  I added the heart die cut (Decorative Hearts DI-0218) to the inside as an extra embellishment.

Remember when doing your folds to go slowly and think of how the card will fold up.   The side view below should help with the folding too.   Very Important to do the folding BEFORE you attach this to the card base.

My Review:   I have to admit I had been a bit leery of purchasing items in our Journey Girl Jewelry line.  I had never seen it in person prior to one of my customers buying a locket with charms and a chain.  After going to convention, seeing more of the line in person (and yes, even purchasing a few pieces) I am sold on it. Sentimental Prints Stamp Set from Fun Stampers Journey has 4 floral designs and 6 sentiments.  The tiny sentiments used on this card are from the Tag Elements Stamp Set. 

This card was created using some of the new neon colors from Fun Stampers Journey that will be available to customers as of July 1, 2015.

The card base is Whip Cream Card Stock that I have sponged with Cosmic Grape Ink Pad.  The layers were created using the Journey Squares Dies.

Summer Bouquet Steel Rule Die - Day 3 of 3 Cards

Day 3 of 3 cards I made using the Fun Stampers Journey Steel Rule Die:  Summer Bouquet that appears in the Spring into Summer Mini Catalog.

This flower has the petals mixed (different shapes)  Sponged the solid card stock with Blue Lagoon Ink Pad.  

Created an embossed frame too for the card front using the Beach Towel Embossing Folder and the Journey Rectangle Dies.   The card base is Whip Cream card stock and the frame if Oatmeal Cookie.

Summer Bouquet Steel Rule Die - Fun Stampers Journey

The steel rule dies open up a whole new world of crafting.   They are used with the Journey Platinum Machine.  This die is 8 1/2 x 11.  Here's what the designs look like:

The die has two different types of flower which each have 3 layers.   Each flower has 2 sizes of leaves to go with it.  I mix and match the flowers and leaves.   They can even be used as a single piece too.   When using them to add dimension, put a larger Journey Foam Square in the middle on the back of the flower to add height.  Then gently bend the petals up.

With steel rule dies you will be able to cut multiple layers of card stock, as well as fabric, felt, canvas, chipboard, and more.   Fun Stampers Journey new collection includes basic shapes as well as 3D decor items.   Die dimensions are listed on Pg 220 of the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.


The background of this card was made by splattering 3 colors of the Silks:  Journey Gold, Journey Silver, and Journey Bronze on a Whip Cream card base.   Be sure to wear an apron or old clothes when you do this and work on a area that is protected.   Those little splatters can travel.   They did add a bit of unique color to my scissors though.  (BIG SMILE).   Some people do the splattering with the card inside of a box.  It's up to you how you decide to do it.   If using the Splashes, absolutely do the "spraying" with a higher sided box.

I cut the petals out both in a solid color and a print.  Sponged the solid color to make it stand out a bit more.  Embellished the center the flower with mini brads or you could use a small circle or other type of embellishment.   Sequins would be pretty too.

Artful Butterfly Dies Day 3 of 3

The look of a card can be drastically changed just by switching out the focus color, changing the background, and even changing the accent pieces (like ribbon and/or sentiments).

Experiment with what you have on hand.   See what you can create too.

Look closely at the intricate part of the butterfly.   Love how the shells in the design add texture to the look of the butterfly.   I also put a Journey Foam Square between the two butterfly pieces so that I could curl the wings up just a bit.   This is the larges of the 3 butterfly dies.

Looking Good Stamp Set From Fun Stampers Journey

Remember when you layer a card it doesn't have to be centered.  Feel free to offset or arrange in any combination that you like.

Adding a sponge accent to the edges of a piece of card stock draws attention to that area and adds dimension too.  

Wouldn't this be perfect to send to your eye doctor!!!  That's immediately who I thought of when I saw it for the first time.   Also realized it would be perfect for almost any occasion including Christmas and St Patrick's Day.   Great for a birthday card too or for someone who has lost weight or changed their style.  Lots of options for use.

I used color pencils for this stamped images.   We are still awaiting word for the arrival date of the new Journey Color Splash Watercolor Pencils and Color Splash Sheets.  I will let you know as soon as we hear. They are on the TOP of my wish list for certain.   This image can be filled in with pencils, markers, watercolors, or pens.  If you want, leave it as a plain stamped image.  That looks good too.

Hope that you all have a wonderful Mother's Day.

I had so much fun creating this card.   As you can probably tell, it has been die cut, embossed, sponged, paper bent to add dimension, and layered.   One card with many possibilities.

The flowers were cut using the Journey Platinum Machine and the steel rule die called:  Summer Bouquet SR-0017.  Please note that this is a LARGER die and it measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2".  It needs the larger cutting area that the Journey Platinum Machine has.  It will not fit into a machine that has a smaller cutting area.   The larger cutting area is one of the many reasons why I love this machine so much.  

Cut out the flowers, then emboss, then sponge the color that you want to accent it with.  The base of the embossed petals is actually Lemon Drop Card Stock.  I sponged Sweet Berry ink over the top.  Totally changes the look of the flower petals.   

This is for Mother's Day but could be used for any occasion you wanted.  Just changed out the sentiment.

Add a Little Sparkle to Your Projects Using Journey Sparkle Dust

IMPORTANT NEWS FIRST - Lemon Drop and Limeade Splash Ink Pads:   We were told this last week.  I don't have either color, but wanted to get the word out to all of you in case anyone might be "scent sensitive".    "Lemon Drop and Limeade Splash tend to have the strangest smells.   That being said the smell only comes from the ink pad and is not transferred to your card stock once it's stamped and dried.   Please keep in mind that these two do have a smell due to the hybrid configuration of the pigment."  It was discussed on the Coaches' board and most didn't even notice any odor, while a few others did.   Again, this is just a heads up for those who are "scent sensitive".  It is only these two colors.

Today I am sharing a mini tutorial with you on how to create these beautiful butterflies with color and Journey Sparkle Dust.   Be sure to read all the way down too to see the card I added them to.

Fun Stampers Journey (FSJ) has a wonderful product called Journey Sparkle Dust that will allow you to add sparkle to your projects.   It is so easy to do too.

Upper Left:  Plain

Upper Right:  Journey Glaze + Sparkle Dust

Lower Left:  Sweet Berry Re-Inker brushed on + Journey Glaze + Sparkle Dust

Lower Right:  Blue Lagoon Re-Inker sponged on + Journey Glaze - Sparkle Dust

Notes & Directions for Butterflies:

Decide whether you want a color on the butterflies or to leave them plain/natural.

If you brushed or sponged on ink, allow to dry a couple of minutes before going to the next step.

Do NOT shake the Journey Glaze as that may create bubbles in the glaze as you apply.

Journey Glaze creates a high gloss effect on the item.  Can be used on card stock, wood, and many other products.    Personally, I don't feel there is an odor to the glaze.

If you are planning to add Sparkle Dust to the project, add it immediately after putting on the Journey Glaze.  

With the Sparkle Dust I worked over a paper towel and took pinches of the Sparkle Dust and released over the butterfly that had been covered with Journey Glaze.   Found I had very little excess Sparkle Dust on my work surface, so I could just throw away the paper towel when I finished.   

Reminder:   If you are working under a fan or near the air conditioning vent --- Sparkle Dust is lightweight and can travel.   Be cautious of where you are working with it.   If adding Sparkle Dust to a larger item, I suggest putting the Sparkle Dust in a plastic container with lid so that you can work over the container and tap excess back into the container. 

1.   Choose the item to decorate   

2.   Color the item & allow to dry a few minutes

3.   Squeeze on the Journey Glaze filling in the complete area.

4.   Immediately add Sparkle Dust

Directions for Card: 
1.  Create a card base .... Whip Cream Card Stock 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
2,  Stamp leaf image using Green Olive  over the full sheet - this will become your card front and back design.   Then fold in half firmly creasing it to create your card fold.  
3.  Using the Journey Platinum Machine cut out the Hexagon Background on a piece of Cranberry Bliss Card Stock 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"  (perfect fit for the card front).  
     NOTE:   Bloom Tool is a big help in removing the pieces from dies.
4.  Glue Hexagon Background to the card front using Journey Craft Glue.   Glue is added the Hexagon Background piece, then that is placed on your card front.   I went around the edges, then added thin lines of the glue on the other outlines so that the complete piece is adhered to the card front.
5.   Cover the back of the butterflies with Journey Craft Glue.  Apply firm pressure when you do this.
6.   Add a sentiment inside or out.

Definitely a multi-use card.   Change out the background stamp, the embellishment, and the sentiment to create a card for any occasion.

Fun Stampers Journey Dream Catcher ATS

My mom loved dream catchers.  So whenever I see one I think of her.   One of my treasured possessions is a pair of handmade dream catcher earrings that she often wore.

I used this for a Thank You card for one of my customers the other day.   I wish you could see the richness of the Bronze Silks that are splattered on the card base. 

It is so easy to have the look of paper piercing too when you can use a piercing element die.   So even and precise, these are such fun to use and add the WOW look to your card too.  

To change out the look of the card, use watercolors, pencils or markers to add color to the stamped image.
