Final Phase - Advent Calendar

I finished the Advent Calendar this past weekend!!!  I had so much fun working on it, and am very pleased with the result.   For the individuals boxes, I only decorated the front part but did wrap the ribbon all the way around.

The star/tree number set only had 24 numbers and my calendar had 25 boxes.   So I took a number sticker and put the number 25 on top of a Santa hat.   The Santa Hats and Gingerbread Men were just parts of a Christmas accessories sets I found at our local craft store.

The Merry Christmas box on top is from the dollar store.   It is about 2 1/4" square.  I put a piece of cardstock on the bottom and glued it.   Then once dry, I glued the whole present base to the top of the Advent Calendar.  That way I had more area to glue and secure.

I did find that the FSJ Journey Glaze was an amazing glaze to use to adhere the felt stars and trees to the ribbon.    I used double sided 1/2" Scor-Pal Tape to adhere the ribbon to the boxes.

Have you made an Advent Calendar before?   What type of goodies do you typically put inside?   I think we are going to use Andes Mints.   If we had small children, it would be fun to put something different in each box.

Arizona Santa

We were at our local CVS drug store today and saw this Santa.   Thought he was the perfect one for Arizona!   Don't you agree.

They sell them only in the stores, but you can search your local store online to see if they have it in stock.   https://www.cvs.com/shop/beach-santa-34-in-prodid-344487?skuId=344487

Phase 2 - Christmas Advent Calendar

I'm slowly working on the Christmas Advent Calendar.  I am having fun with it, and it is nice to be able to take my time since it is not needed until December 1st.

Covered back and sides with the same printed paper.
I used a white liquid glue to adhere it all.

I wrapped FSJ Candy Apple Satin Ribbon around the
sides of the box.
I used Scor-Pal Double Sided Tape to adhere it in place.

Next I will work on the individual drawers.   Don't have it completely planned out yet, but I have lots of supplies to work with.

Hope you find time to craft today.   Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Celebrate Easel Project From Fun Stampers Journey Convention

I received a Celebrate Easel project kit when I attended the Color Pop Crop at Fun Stampers Journey Convention in June 2018.   I had put it aside, and decided to work on it this last weekend.  Saturday was a very rainy day here, so decided it was the perfect time to work on this kit.

NOTE:   This kit is not for sale as a kit.  It was a gift item.  However you can purchase the items individually and create your own kit.

The photo I used on this was taken on a Royal Caribbean Cruise.
We met the Nelson Brothers and saw them in concert.
So exciting and so much fun to meet them in person.

Side view of the easel.

The easel is accented with paper flowers, buttons, and brads.

Video Tutorial - How to Make a Craft Bag Using Duck Tape / Duct Tape and Plastic Bags

The other day I got inspired and had to try out this new (to me) craft of making storage/craft bags using plastic bags and Duck Tape / Duct Tape.   Because I know the quality of the Duck Tape Brand, this is the brand I choose for this project.

If you are reading this via e-mail, here's my direct link to the video:  https://youtu.be/vfk6HKJ5teQ
NOTE:   This video is the Live Feed I did on my Facebook Business Page.

Making these craft bags was so much easier with the help of these products from Fun Stampers Journey (FSJ):

Journey Cutting Mat TO-0148
Retractable Craft Knife TO-0145
Craft Knife Replacement Blades TO-0146 pack of 4

Here are some photos of my finished projects:  (there will be more in my future)

I tried both the press/seal and the slider type closers for the bag.   My preference is the slider style.   I just feel it will be more durable in the long run.   The photo above is all the ones I made Saturday.

My favorite - the all over print.

A mix of solid and print for this bag.

Solid color bag.

These would make great gift items or even could be used as a gift bag.   The bags come in so many different sizes from snack to trash bag size (if you wanted a super big project to work on).  For me, the quart bags were a great size to work with.   The tape lengths for this size was easy to handle too.   For me, the slider type closer would be the one I would choose when making bags.   I just feel it closes easier and you can tell right away if the bag is sealed or not.

These could be used for pencils, pens, craft items, cosmetics, travel size items, and so much more.

Have you made these before?  What have you made with the tape?

So Easy to Create Boxes Using FSJ Scoring Board

Last Monday on my blog I showcased the new Fun Stampers Journey Scoring Board TO-0149.   There are 3 really good videos that blog post that show you how to make envelopes, boxes, and envelope boxes.    Click Here to view.

I decided to make some boxes with Fun Stampers Journey Printed Paper that I had that is retired.  What an easy way to make a beautiful box.   Just add embellishments and ribbon when completed.  Here is one of the boxes I made.

Side view with the lid raised up just bit to show both designs.

Side & top of box.

Upside down.   The printed portion is the bottom piece of the box.

Box open with lid to the side.

This used two sheets of printed paper.   The ombre pink is one side and the printed floral is the other.

2 sheets 12 x 12 inch printed paper.
Score base piece at 2 and 4
     Score Lid at 1 7/8 and 3 7/8
 Gift box is 4 x 4 x 2

Triangle Treat Die Set Used to Creat A Cake Full of Party Favors - Fun Stampers Journey Products

It's always so much fun to create something unique and different to use as a gift, packaging, or decoration.   The Triangle Treat Die Set offers all 3.   It can be used as a gift package/box, a party favor, or as a table decoration for a special event.   Whether a birthday, wedding, shower, retirement party etc, these darling boxes will be the perfect accessory to the decor.

Yesterday on my blog, I showed you an individual slice of cake that I made.   Today I want to show you how you can make a full cake using 8 of these put together.    Here are some photos of my completed projects (note:  I used 6 so that you can see what the inside would look like):

Doesn't this look good enough to eat!  Each cake slice top was embellished just a little bit differently.  I switched out the colors of the roses and the dots are both gold and silver.   Imagine the possibilities of cake flavors (change the card stock color), frosting (change out the ribbon), and decorations for the top (change it out for any occasions).

By lining up the ribbon with the center end scallop on each slice, it keeps the ribbon lined up all the way around when put together for the full cake.

A bit better view of the top of the slices and the differences in the silver/gold dot layouts.

The Triangle Treat Die will work in the Amaze Machine, Platinum 6 (pre-order it now), and the Platinum Machine.   For the Amaze and the Platinum 6, it's a bit tighter of a cut but doable.  This is the way FSJ has demonstrated cutting out the die with the smaller platform machine.   You will need to cut the end piece twice.   Each slice of cake will use an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of card stock.   Cut the card stock down to accommodate the long die.   Then cut out the end pieces with the remaining piece of card stock.   3 runs through the machine.   I highly recommend taping (washi tape works well) the dies down so they do not move while cutting.

With the Platinum Machine, it will allow you to cut a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 inch of card stock at one time.   No need to cut the sheet into two pieces.  I laid the dies at an angle.   This gave me a bit more room to work with them.   Either way, you will still use one full sheet of card stock per slice of cake.   This is how I laid it out before running it through my Platinum Machine.

Reminder, you will still need to cut out two of the end pieces.

Tips:

1.   Craft Glue worked extremely well with this project.   I like that it allows me to move the card stock into place.   Allow each section to set up/dry before moving on.   This will allow for a stronger hold.
2.  FSJ White Liner Tape was perfect for the back of the ribbon.   It allowed me to place and secure it to the cake slice.
3.   Craft Glue (not glue dots or white liner tape) worked the best for securing the scalloped ends.
4.   Create some areas to allow the slices to dry with the scallop tip facing down (I put it between to bottles of liquid) so that the bow can dry flat.
5.   Allow to dry completely before adding candy etc to the inside.

Triangle Treat Box Die Set Can Make The Cutest Piece of Cake - Fun Stampers Journey Products

The Triangle Treat Box DI-0458 makes a darling box for party favors.  But did you also realize you can make it to look like a piece of card!   How wonderful would like be for wedding favors.   The finished piece measures 3 1/2 x 2 x 3 inches.

Today I will share with you some of my photos of the cake piece.   Then hopefully in the next couple of days I will be able to share some tips on how to put it together.   It's easy to do with our craft glue gun.

NOTE:   It is supposed to work with the smaller machine (Platinum 6 that comes out end of August and the Amaze Machine).   With those machines it will be a tight fit.   I used my Platinum machine and angled the die.   Each slice will end up using a full sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 inches card stock.

Back side and top.

Side, back, and top.

The Meadow Flowers AC-0406 were a perfect topper.
Leaves are from the Blooming Details Die DI-0327

The other side profile of the slice.

If you are very careful, you can fold a
1.69 ounce bag of M&Ms in the slice and
close the lid.
