Game On Stamp Set Mini Tutorial - Perfect for Birthday Celebration - Fun Stampers Journey Products

My husband, Hal, had a birthday the other day.    He loves to play video games, so a birthday card with a gaming theme was the perfect choice.

Mini Tutorial on how to create this card:

1.  8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Fresh Sage Card Stock ... score and fold the wider side at 4 1/4". This is the card base.   Set aside.

2.  3 3/4" x 5" Whip Cream Card Stock for the layer.
     Using a large dauber and dowel, shade the background.
     Splatter on Bronze and Silver Silks.
     Angle the piece of card stock and score every 1/2"  using our Scoring Board.  Then using your precision shears clip/notch the ends of the score marks.   This will help hold the thread in place.  I also put a notch in the other two ends for the final piece of thread.
    Wrap the Fresh Sage Thread around the card securing each end.
     Using White Liner Tape, secure the Whip Cream layer to your card base.

3.  Stamp the game controller with River Stone Ink Pad.  
     Fussy cut out.
     Attach to the Whip Cream layer with Foam Squares.
     Put Journey Glaze over the top.
     Set aside to dry completely.

4.  Stamp the sentiment "Level Complete" with Chambray Shirt Ink. 
     Fussy cut the sentiment out.
    Attach to the Whip Cream layer with Foam Squares
     Brush the edges with Fresh Sage Ink Pad.
     Put Journey Glaze over the top.
     Set aside to dry completely.

5.  Attach Sea Stones to the card front.

6.  Stamp the sentiment inside the card "Happy Birthday" with Chambray Shirt Ink.

7.  Write a personal note, sign the back of the card showing that you made it, and the card is complete.

NOTE:   This is important ... be absolutely certain that your Journey Glaze is totally dry before putting this in an envelope.    If not completely dry, the envelope will adhere to the wet areas.   Don't ask me how I know!!!

Hats Off Die Set Used for Graduation Card - Fun Stampers Journey Products

The Hats Off Die Set creates a 3D graduation cap.   With the help of Journey Foam Squares, it is up and off the card background.   The tassel adds the final touch to the cap.   Such a reasonably priced die set too .... DI-0441 Set of 3 pieces for $9.95.

I used one of my Gel Press Backgrounds I created the other day, then layered it with Sweet Berry and Brush Gold Card Stock.   The cap is made with Black Licorice and Brush Gold Card Stock.

Inside & Out Stamp Set - Hats Off Die Set - Star-Dom Die Set AND FSJ Silks are on Sale

Yesterday I was inspired to create a graduation card.   Seems impossible that June is just around the corner and that means graduation for many is just around the corner too.   You still have time to order supplies needed for graduation cards especially our wonderful new Hats Off Die DI-0441 that creates the graduation cap and tassel shown in the card below. 

I wanted a card that was unique and had the feeling of celebration.   I chose a bright card base color (Beach Breeze) then accented with Brushed Silver, Black Licorice, and Lemon Drop.    The background of the card base was splattered with SEVEN (7) different colors of our Silks.  I love the look of sparkle to it and the look of confetti falling.

The small faux leather stars are a Bloom Benefit called Bloom Stars.  It is in our main catalog and is one of the free option for a $50 order.    The stars were a perfect fit for the stars I die cut and used the piercing element die on.   The Bloom Stars have a large glue dot on the back of them so adhere securely to the other stars.    Here's a close-up of the star:

Depth and dimension were added by applying foam squares underneath each item.

Hero City Die - Follow Your Dreams Hot Air Balloons - Fun Stampers Journey Products

I have to be honest, I never wanted the Hero City UNTIL I saw the Follow Your Dream (hot air balloon embellishments).   When I saw them I could envision the card in my mind.   I had to have both items!!!!

The card went together easily.   I used retired printed paper that I had for the background, but you could easily used Splashes, PanPastels, Fusion Inks to create the background yourself. 

Card base is Lemon Drop.
City is Black Licorice.
Ink for Sentiment is Black Licorice.

I adhered the background to the card base with our Journey Craft Glue.   Then cut out the City Die and placed it on the background with the Craft Glue also.    The hot air balloon is already layered and has a large foam square on the back.   Also used the foam squares on the sentiment when I placed it on the card.

The inside of the card could be left black for a handwritten note or stamped inside too.

Dream Big Stamp Set & Updte on the Glitter Pen Video - Fun Stampers Journey

Whether looking to make a card for encouragement or graduation, this Dream Big Stamp Set will be a hit.  The dinosaur background paper is from our last mini catalog and is called Sweet Spring.  I didn't think of it being retired until after I had made the card.

I fussy cut the image used our paper cutter to cut out the sentiment.  Added a bit of twine/thread to accent the cute little dinosaur that I had watercolored.  A bit of Bronze and Silver Silk added to the sentiment to highlight it just a bit more.

Update:   Glitter Pen

A couple weeks ago I posted a blog post and a video on how to make your own glitter pen.   After talking to Corporate, it has been determined that this is NOT a good idea as the glitter can clog the brush system (blending brushes) and also cause some leaking through the air hole of the brush.   As a result, I have deleted the blog post and also the video.   I will no longer recommend doing this.   The blending brushes were made for water use not the SILKS.

Birthday Card Made Using Magical Journey Stamp and Die Set Bundle from Fun Stampers Journey

The castle is covered with Journey Glaze and Journey Sparkle Dust then popped up on an embossed sheet of Journey Brushed Silver Card Stock.   A card full of sparkle and shine.

Magical Journey Collection Card #1 - Fun Stampers Journey

I am such a Disney fan, so the Fun Stampers Journey Magical Journey collection filled with stamps, matching dies, embellishments, printed paper and more was a perfect choice for me when I placed my recent order.

Using the Magical Journey Prints (paper) I created a cloud backdrop for my card.   Then used the Growing  Up Die set to cut out a hot air balloon.   The bottom part (if I had used the stamp too from this bundle) would of been the house.   I cut out the house part using the die and brown card stock.   Then took the Journey Gold Pigment Marker to create the illusion of a basket for the hot air balloon.

Did you notice the hidden Mickey Mouse on the hot air balloon?   Mickey is hidden in quite a few of the Magical Journey Prints (paper), you just have to look for him.

Journey Foam Square allowed me to pop out the balloon and Walt Disney Quote adding dimension to the card.    Because I put this on a darker card base of Denim Days I did put a piece of Whip Cream Card Stock inside for a handwritten note.

Fun Stampers Journey Geo Burst Die - Day 2 of 3

With this Geo Burst, I used both the design plate and the frame

when I ran it through my Journey Platinum Machine. 

By using both dies, it cuts out a complete individual 

piece.

Using Craft Glue I attached the design to my card front.

Remember to add a drop of Journey Glaze to the ends

of the sequins to prevent them from accidently

coming loose.

 I layered the sentiment using Paper Punches

from Fun Stampers Journey.

This die gives the cards such a look of elegance.  Love that it can be used for so many occasions too.   Very versatile.

Fun Stampers Journey Geo Burst Die - Day 1 of 3

The Geo Burst Die from Fun Stampers Journey is very versatile.  Over the next three days I would like to share with your some of the cards I have made with it.

 

(2 piece die set)

This die cuts the perfect front for an A2 size card.

A2 cards are 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"

  

Take a card base, score it, and then place the floral part 

of the die on the front part.

This shows the beautiful design with no backing to i.

Same card as the one before, EXCEPT, that I added in

a piece of black licorice card stock to make the card pop. 

Card backing was attached using Craft Glue

Using the Star-Dom Die Set, I cut out a star.

Behind the star I used Sparkle Trim to accent the card.

There is still room on the front of the card to add in a sentiment or it can be placed inside of the card too.

I laid the Sparkle Trim down on the card front.  Then attached Journey Foam Squares to the back of the star in numerous places as these need to hold the Sparkle Trim in place too.   I always add a drop or two of the Journey Glace to the end pieces of the Sparkle Trim.   It helps to keep the sequins in place.

I took the black licorice card stock and stamped the Starry Night Background Stamp on it using the  Clear Pigment Ink Pad.   Then using the larger Sofft Tool, I applied the Journey Brush Silver PanPastel over the top rubbing it in well.   As you do this, the image will just pop out!!!   Then I sprinkled/tapped the Journey Silver Silks to give it a bit more sparkle.

This card would be perfect for graduation, congratulations, a card of encouragement, and many other uses.
