Working With Silver and Gold Leaf Foils

I have never been a fan of the FSJ Silver and Gold Leaf Foils until recently.   I discovered that they can be applied easily to double sided adhesive tape.

Here are some samples .... I put double sided adhesive tape on the card front (base) and then applied a die cut (butterfly or tree).  One die cut was in position, I then placed then rubbed the leaf with my fingers to get it attached to the adhesive.   The final step was to take a sponge dauber and brush off the excess from the die cut.   Very pleased with the results.

The butterfly was done in gold leaf foil.    A dear friend gave me the Gnome stamp set as a surprise last month.   I thought the little house, sign, and frog were the perfect accents for this card.  

The tree was done with silver leaf foil.

These Puppies Won My Heart - Must Have Stamp Set - Dog Days - FSJ

Isn't this the cutest puppy set you've seen in a very long time!!!  When I saw this set in the catalog, I knew I had to order it.   It covers so many occasions including sympathy sentiment for the loss of a pet.

We had Miniture Schnauzers for years.   This darling stamp on the card reminds me of our fur babies.  

I hand colored the background stamp (Flower Tangle SS-0617) with my Journey Color Burst Pencils JM-0077.  Thought it would be cute to add in the Baby Envelope (using Baby Envelope Die Set) and a mini sentiment from Mini Greetings Stamp Set AT-0339.   Then finished it off with a tiny handmade bow from thread.

Chubby Stocking Die Set From Fun Stampers Journey

 

I just received this die set in my order on Friday.   Have played a bit with it, but haven't created any cards yet.   Thought I would share the die set with you today.

Make Lemonade Stamp Set from Fun Stampers Journey

Thought of my sister when I made this card.   Her favorite dessert was lemon meringue pie.

So many creative steps went into the making of this card.

First, I decided that I wanted to make my own background paper.   I took the lemon stamp from the Make Lemonade Stamp Set and randomly stamped the image on the Whip Cream Card Stock.

Next, I got out my Journey Color Splash Pencils and colored them in.   After coloring, I used a wet small tip brush (there is one included with the pencils) to blend and smooth out the coloring.

After allowing the background design to dry I attached the layers together using our Easy Glide Permanent Adhesive Runner.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set as the lemon design.   I stamped it on a piece of card stock that I had cut and used the "elements" to create a paper pierced look to it.    Dies:  Journey Rectangles.  It is a set of 12 ... 6 cutting die and 6 element dies.

The sentiment piece was "popped up" using Journey Foam Squares.   This adds depth and dimension to the card design.

I absolutely love the Slice-Fetti with its tiny pieces of fruit.   I used tweezers and Craft Glue to adhere them tot he card.    After gluing allow a few minutes to dry.

Winter Hills Die is Perfect for an Outdoor Camping Scene - Fun Stampers Journey

 I am having so much fun with the Winter Hills die.   Here is another example of a layered card.

The top card would be great with just a sentiment added in.  On the second card, I stamped the tent and the log fire from the Happy Camper Stamp Set.  The log fire was colored in with Journey Color Splash Watercolor pencils.

Technique:

Did you notice the shadow of a larger tree in the background?   That was created using the negative of the die cut.  I laid the negative image on my card base (Whip Cream Card Stock) and then I sponged (narrow Sofft Tool) the tree image in with Black Licorice PanPastels.  It is in the Party Pop PanPastel collection.  The sunset background was then created using PanPastels and the Sofft Tools.

Halloween Look For the Winter Hills Die by Fun Stampers Journey

I really like the versatility of the Winter Hills Die by Fun Stampers Journey.  It can be used for layering or for a tri-fold card.    Today I want to share with you two versions of the same card to create a ghostly Halloween themed card.  This card is layered.

I liked both versions, but I really think adding in the log fire (Happy Camper Stamp Set) added to the look of this card.

I used PanPastels for the moon, background, and even for the ghostly characters.   The ghostly characters were created by stamping the images with Clear Pigment Ink, and then using the Brushed Silver PanPastels over the top.   Really makes the stamped image stand out.

The log fires were stamped, then colored in using Journey Splash Pencils. 

Journey Foam Squares used on the different layers for dimension.

Reminder if you do this on a black card base to line the inside with a lighter color so you can write a note to the recipient of your card.

Fun Stampers Journey Geo Burst Die - Day 2 of 3

With this Geo Burst, I used both the design plate and the frame

when I ran it through my Journey Platinum Machine. 

By using both dies, it cuts out a complete individual 

piece.

Using Craft Glue I attached the design to my card front.

Remember to add a drop of Journey Glaze to the ends

of the sequins to prevent them from accidently

coming loose.

 I layered the sentiment using Paper Punches

from Fun Stampers Journey.

This die gives the cards such a look of elegance.  Love that it can be used for so many occasions too.   Very versatile.

Fun Stampers Journey Geo Burst Die - Day 1 of 3

The Geo Burst Die from Fun Stampers Journey is very versatile.  Over the next three days I would like to share with your some of the cards I have made with it.

 

(2 piece die set)

This die cuts the perfect front for an A2 size card.

A2 cards are 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"

  

Take a card base, score it, and then place the floral part 

of the die on the front part.

This shows the beautiful design with no backing to i.

Same card as the one before, EXCEPT, that I added in

a piece of black licorice card stock to make the card pop. 

Card backing was attached using Craft Glue

Using the Star-Dom Die Set, I cut out a star.

Behind the star I used Sparkle Trim to accent the card.

There is still room on the front of the card to add in a sentiment or it can be placed inside of the card too.

I laid the Sparkle Trim down on the card front.  Then attached Journey Foam Squares to the back of the star in numerous places as these need to hold the Sparkle Trim in place too.   I always add a drop or two of the Journey Glace to the end pieces of the Sparkle Trim.   It helps to keep the sequins in place.

Starry Night and Word Block Stamps Sets From Fun Stampers Journey

The camera doesn't show the beautiful shine/shimmer that this card and ribbon process.  Wish you could see it in person.

I took the black licorice card stock and stamped the Starry Night Background Stamp on it using the  Clear Pigment Ink Pad.   Then using the larger Sofft Tool, I applied the Journey Brush Silver PanPastel over the top rubbing it in well.   As you do this, the image will just pop out!!!   Then I sprinkled/tapped the Journey Silver Silks to give it a bit more sparkle.

This card would be perfect for graduation, congratulations, a card of encouragement, and many other uses.

Fun Stampers Journey Winter Hills Dies - Two Card Styles Made With It.

I almost missed seeing this die set in the Fun Stampers Journey Holidays Mini Catalog.  It is in the upper left hand corner on page 31 along with lots of gorgeous ribbons.  

I found as I played with the die that if I cut the tabs off of it, that I could easily layer it on a card front. Just pop up the layers using Journey Foam Squares.    Here's my first example which is layered:

Winter Hills Die DI-0249

I see this die being used for so many occasions not just Christmas.  Perfect for a forest scene, a snow scene, Christmas card, Thanksgiving card and more.  Even a tent stamped off to the side for a camping card.   The ideas/options are endless.

The card base is Green Olive and the trees are Whip Cream card stock.  I sponged the trees with PanPastels, then used Silks to add a bit of shine to the card.    Embellished it with Journey Sequins Holiday Elements (red flowers and snow flakes).

Then I started playing with the die a bit more and realized that it would make a GREAT Tri-Fold card.    The photos below are just some Whip Cream Card Stock that I cut out for a test card.   Then I sponged it with PanPastels to see how it would look.   It's a keeper I think, don't you?

Visualize the trees done in a Green Olive Card Stock on the Tri-Fold or the Whip Cream Card Stock sponged with PanPastels on both front and back of the tree panels.

I found that the Journey Craft Glue (liquid) was perfect for putting on the tabs and then positioning the piece into place.

NOTE:   Did you notice the difference in the trees themselves on the two cards.   The layered card I just cut the trees out.  On the Tri-Fold card, I first cut them then leaving the paper in the dies I then embossed them.   It creates a highlighted/embossed edge when you do this.   Here's the Journey Platinum "sandwich" to do the embossing after you run the dies through your machine:

Hip Hip AT Stamp and Die From Fun Stampers Journey

Go To Your Happy Place - Fun Stampers Journey Card

This card is a combination of a number of techniques:   Sponging with PanPastels; stamping with Clear Pigment Ink then using PanPastels over the top; stamping a background image, and then stamping and cutting out the trailer and sentiment.   I wish you could see the sparkle in the white background of the card.  I used the gold and silver PanPastels to create the glisten/sparkle.

This is a bit more involved than some of my cards, but so worth it!!!

1.  Using the PanPastel Sofft Tool (sponge):  Sponge over the whole background with silver then the gold.
2.  Stamp the Honeycomb design twice on the card front using Clear Pigment Ink.
3.  Immediately sponge the Summer Days PanPastel over the Honeycomb designs.  Summer Days is part of the Rich Sorbet PanPastel Collection.
4.  Now using Cocoa Powder ink, stamp the Thread Sketch stamp on your card front.
5.  On a separate piece of Whip Cream Card stock stamp the trailer image and the "Go To Your Happy Place" sentiment from the Happy Camper Stamp Set.  
6.  Use the trailer outline die from the Happy Camper Die set to cut the trailer out.
7.  Cut out the sentiment and do the piercing using the Journey Rectangles Dies.
8.  Sponge the edge of the sentiment with Turbo Teal Ink.
9.  Attach card background to the card base using Easy Glide Adhesive.
10.  Attach the trailer and the sentiment to the background piece using Journey Foam Squares.
11.  Don't forget to sign the back of the card to show who made it.

Jukebox Baby Artist Trading Stamp (ATS) and PanPastels

Having so much fun creating with the new PanPastels from Fun Stampers Journey.   These will be available to customers as of July 1, 2016 via my website.   This is my completed card using a stencil for the background of the card base and sponging on different shades of the PanPastel for the background for the jukebox.

When Life Gets Crazy, Don't Sink Stamp Set

The neon colored card stock and ink used in this project will be available to customers as of July 1, 2016.   It could be created using any colors of your choice.  Have fun with it.

Mini Tutorial:  

1.  Stamp the horse inner tube image (from Don't Sink Stamp Set) onto Whip Cream Card Stock.  Stamp the image using Black Licorice Ink Pad. 
2. Stamp the floral design (from Media Artist Stamp Set) over the inner tube image. One was created using Turbo Teal Ink Pad and the other Orange Rave ink pad.
3.  Fancy cut the image out using the Details Pro Shears.
4.  Using your Journey Platinum or other die cutting machine, cut the Electric Lime Card Stock background using the Don't Sink Die.
5.  Glue the background to the printed images. 
6.  Create a card base using Turbo Teal Card Stock. My card base is for an A2 card.
7.  Make a 1" border using Electric Lime and stamp the sentiments on it using the Turbo Teal Ink Pad.   The sentiments are from the Don't Sink Stamp Set.    Glue the border to the top of the card using either Easy Glide Adhesive or White Liner Tape.
7.  The Turbo Teal floral inner tube I attached to the card with the Easy Glide Adhesive so that it would lay flat on my card.
8.  The Orange Rave inner tube I attached to the card with Journey Foam Squares so that it was raised up form the card.  This adds interest and dimension to the card.
9.  When using darker color card bases, be sure to add a lighter inside piece to write a note.
